Illinois' Medicaid is getting a reboot, with changes intended to provide more stability and clarity to a managed care program that has been serving Medicaid recipients since 2011. This second round is intended to have Medicaid members across the entire state served by managed care. Five of the plans are to serve members in every county; County Care Health Plan will serve Cook County only.
The phased rollout started on January 1, 2018, with the 30 counties where managed care had already been available. Tentatively planned for April 1, the second phase has been postponed.
