Prior to launch of the ACA marketplace in 2014, nearly 1 out of every 7 working age adults in Illinois lacked health insurance. Although the ACA greatly reduced the proportion of Illinois residents living without health insurance, hard-to-reach populations continue to have lower coverage rates.
